Franklin Moto

Kara Donaldson is a dangerous woman and that’s why we love her. She’s not dangerous in the ways you might think, but rather she’s a serious threat to hopelessness and poverty.

Kara, a former Franklin resident, is now a world changer. She has dedicated her life to assisting widows and orphans in Kenya, East Africa. She recently informed us that her work takes her all over the city of Nairobi as well as the wild back country locally referred to as simply the “bush.” The only roads are simple dirt tracks, but most of the year they are nearly impassable muddy ruts.  You can view a video of what her daily commute looks like here.

We decided that we can, and will do something about it. So we are cordially inviting you as a friend of Franklin Moto and the local motorcycle riding community to join forces and finances by coming together at 6:00pm on August 19th, 2017 to meet Kara in person while she’s visiting on a speaking/fundraising tour of the US. We are planning an epic night of fun, with something for everyone.

Here’s a quick rundown of what the “CRUISER 4 KARA!” night will look like.

We have obtained exclusive rights to screen a powerful award winning documentary film entitled “TAKE NONE GIVE NONE a Portrait of the Chosen Few M.C.” This 2016 film is about capturing the feel of what it’s like to ride with the oldest racially integrated Motorcycle Club in the United States. You can view the trailer for the film, here.

To attend the screening of this film we are asking that you plan to bring a donation of at least $20 cash for each seat but, more is certainly welcome and appreciated!

PARENTAL WARNING: This film contains SERIOUSLY adult language, content and subject matter. NO CHILDREN under 18 years of age will be admitted without adult supervision.

* * * Recently added LIVE MUSIC to the event! * * *

There will be live music from local artists

We have decided that due to lack of interest in sign ups for the teen guitar shred competition, we are canceling this portion of the event.

There will still be plenty of activities to do at the CRUISER 4 KARA!

We are also launching the first ever “BATTLE OF FRANKLIN-MOTO-GUITAR-SHRED!” guitar competition. The outdoor stage of the Little Brick Theatre will be the battleground where some of the Franklin area’s most gifted 13-19 year old guitar heroes will be throwing down their best solo chops in a friendly, crowd pleasing, head to head sparring session. The winner will be crowned by the decibel level response of the audience.

We’ll have games, giveaways, raffles, food for purchase from Thunderbird Wings and Funk Seoul Brother. Free water and soft drinks from Greenhaven Apartment homes. And of course, FREE BEER from Franklin Moto for the 21+ crowd. #drink-responsibly

This is a FREE event and open to all. We will have donation stations and encourage your generous support of our goal to purchase a capable 4-wheel drive vehicle for Kara in Kenya!
